Lewis Milford Adams age 83 of Ider died on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at CHI Memorial. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 at 2 PM CT at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Bro. Luke McKay, Bill Lang, Sharon Doviet, and Chris Russell sharing in the service. Family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time. In-lieu-of flowers, contributions may be made to Ider Library in Mr. Lewis Adams' memory.
Lewis was born October 18, 1941 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to parents, Mitchell Isaiah and Berthel Tullis Adams. He grew-up around the Ider community and was a 1960 graduate of Ider High School. He attended Snead State Community College and then the New York School of Photography. He entered the US Air Force in 1963 and served throughout Europe until his discharge in 1967. After completing his time in service, he enter Florence State Teachers College (now UNA) where he completed his teaching degree. He later attended Memphis State College where he obtained his Master's degree in Geography. He began teaching at Sylvania High School in the fall of 1971. During his time teaching there, he completed a Master's degree from the University of Alabama in Special Education. He taught and positively influenced the lives of many students for 27 years until his retirement. After retiring, he spent countless hours working with his brother on their cattle and hay farm. Over the last several years, he could be found most days in his wood shop making special gifts that he gave away or building hand crafted treasures for customers' houses. Through his generosity, he built most of the book cases that are found in the Ider Library today.
Survivors include his niece and her family, Terri Adams Anderson(Christopher), Matthew, Megan and Allie Anderson, along with many, many friends that he met during his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, James and Virginia Adams, infant brothers, Marlin Bert and Michael Gene-Marvaleta Adams.
