Lewis William Johnson, passed on from this life on January 26, 2023 in Fulshear, Texas, at the age of 65. He entered this life on June 28, 1957 in Houston, Texas to parents, Billie Jo and Roland Randall Johnson.
Lewis spent his life dedicated to his work as an Iron Worker, and spent many years working with the Local 84 Iron Workers Union and All American Iron Works, then later 23 years with Home Depot. Lewis had a passion for his work, but he always found time outside of it to enjoy some of his favorite hobbies. Those hobbies consisted of shooting guns, watching some baseball, and attending church.
Lewis was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer 7 years ago with myeloid sarcoma on his spinal cord. He battled long and hard and suffered from transverse myelitis due to the multiple rounds of radiation he had to go through. He was wheelchair bound the past few years but it did not stop his love and adoration for his family, friends, and most of all his children. He built numerous buildings throughout Houston, the largest being the George R. Brown Convention Center. Lewis had his own burglar bar business called All American Iron Works and the scripture he clung to was used for his business, Psalms 147:13, "He has strengthened the bars of our gates and protected our children within them." His thumbprint will forever be present on the city he was so proud of and helped build. He was also very passionate about music and he loved to play the bass guitar in his younger years, and enjoyed Christian music and watching his children play baseball. We take comfort in knowing that his pain and suffering will be no more and that he is at peace now with the Lord.
Lewis was preceded in death by his father, Roland Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Johnson; mother, Billie Jo Johnson; brothers, Curtis Johnson and Dean Johnson; children, Lewis Johnson Jr., Faith Robinson, Stephen Johnson, Hannah Baquera, Ryan Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Makenna Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Ashlynne Johnson, Abbey Johnson, and Andrew Johnson; grandchildren, Alexi Johnson, Joshua Kanui-Rowe, Seaera Johnson, Natalia Johnson, and Jaleb Besaw, Jordis Besaw; great grandchildren, Makaio Kanui- Rowe and Kaili Kanui-Rowe; along with many other relatives and countless friends.
