Lewis D. "Butch" Sampsel Jr., age 75 of Navarre, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at the Cleveland VA.

He was born July 12, 1950, in Massillon the son of the late Lewis and Jean (Widder) Sampsel.

He was a veteran serving in the Army and Navy.

Butch was a retired deputy Marshall after 35 years in law enforcement.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Butch is survived by his wife of 21 years, Billie (Caruthers) Sampsel; two daughters, Ericka (A.J.) Reyes, Melissa (Sean) Straley; son, Michael Skelly; two sisters, Sharlene Kimble, Mary (John) Fogler; grandchildren Lisa (Garret) Vickers, Michael Skelly, Mika Jones, Cara Vagts, James Vagts; great-grandchildren, Kaedyn, Dominik, Garret Jr., Maggiemae, Taylor, Addilynn, and Mikey Jr.

He was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Mark Kimble and mother-in-law, Opal Caruthers.

A memorial service will be held at later date.

His final place of rest will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Massillon Victory Church, 420 Lake Ave NE, Massillon, OH 44646.

He did not become an angel, he became healed. He is walking with Jesus and all the loved ones that went before him. He will be forever loved by his family and friends that remain to carry on without him. Forever in our hearts and lives. Gone but not forgotten. Not goodbye, but see you later.
