Lillian "Trudy" Bourne

Lillian Gertrude "Trudy" Bourne, 79, of Palmyra, died on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at a local hospital.

She was born in Wythe County, Virginia, on August 3, 1931, the daughter of the late Ernest T. and Minnie C. Burnett Wright. She was also preceded in death by a son, William Thomas Knight; brothers, Monroe Wright, Lacy Wright and Graham Wright; and sisters, Aileen Furough, Elizabeth Harlowe, Goldie Adcock and Martha Meredith.

Mrs. Bourne was known as a great seamstress who loved her flowers and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest Bourne of Palmyra; four sons, Gregory Allen Knight and his wife, Ann Marie, of Stanardsville, Garnette Gray Bourne and his wife, Tammy, of Fluvanna, Ernest Scott Bourne and his wife, Betty, of Fluvanna, Lester Arnold Bourne and his wife, Amy, of Charlottesville; 12 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren; brothers, Larry Wright and Marshall Wright of Charlottesville, Virginia; sisters, Wanita Harlowe of Charlottesville, Virginia, Ruby Hipes of Richmond, Virginia, and Mildred Pugh of Charlottesville, Virginia.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011, at Monticello Memory Gardens with the Reverend Ken Morton officiating.

Greg,Scott,Garnette,Lester and Ernest, i am so sorry to hear about aunt Gertrude. You boys were the best sons she could ask for Ernest you were the best husband she could have the woman from what i know of her worked like a dog in the house to provide as much as she could while Ernest work me and my wife will keep all of you in our prayers it was only just a couple of years ago mom passed i understand and know how you all feel but at least one thing she is with Tommy mom and the rest of her sisters if there is anything i can do feel free to call any time day or night 347-228-6954 even if it is a prayer. like i said again i am sorry curtis and family
