Lillie Harvey Spies Loth, 89, of Bastrop, Texas, passed away on April 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Hallettsville, Texas, on January 17, 1936, to Arthur Spies Sr. and Lillie Hanslik Spies.
Lillie married Leroy Frank Loth on May 31, 1959, and together they raised two children, Rebecca Susanna Loth Osborne and Dominic Frank Loth. She lived a life marked by grace, quiet strength, and deep devotion to her family. She was known for her kind heart, strong faith, and the steady, comforting presence she brought to those around her. Her love of family was at the center of all she did.
She was the kind of person who remembered every birthday, welcomed everyone with open arms, and gave without hesitation. She loved to bake, especially during the holidays, and created magic at every family gathering. Her creativity shone through in her cake decorating and in the many themed birthday parties she lovingly crafted for her children. Lillie had a special love for her beautiful flowers, especially her Easter Lily, and spent countless hours feeding and watching her birds. For the past 11 years, she lived in Bastrop with her daughter, son-in-law and grandson, sharing laughter, TV shows, Hallmark movies, and countless memories.
She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, including lunch outings and late-night visits. Even at 88, she stayed up until 2 a.m. by the hot tub enjoying every moment with family. She passed on the joy of decorating for every holiday—something she learned from her own mother—to her daughter and always made each season feel special.
Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lillie Spies; her beloved husband, Leroy Loth; her son, Dominic Loth; her grandson, Casey Nicholson; her brothers, Arthur Spies Jr. and Daniel Spies; her niece, Ann Marie Spies; and many other cherished family members.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Osborne and her husband Lindey Osborne; her grandchildren, Bailey Appling and her husband Dustin Appling, Keith Sevcik and his wife Kelsie Sevcik, Nicklas Osborne, Erin Kaufhold and her husband Keith Kaufhold and family; and her great-grandchildren, Case Sevcik, Chloe Sevcik, and Callie Sevcik. Her daughter’s friends also loved her dearly and considered her family.
Lillie always put others first. She was a good wife, a good mother, a good grandmother, and a good friend. Her legacy of love, generosity, and kindness will live on in all who knew her.
Family will be conducting a private graveside service at a later date.
Funeral Mass Service: Monday, April 14, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville, with Rosary starting at 1:30 pm. Family will receive guests from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
