Lilyana Lily Widjaga

Lilyana "Lily" Widjaja (Cecilia Goei May Lie) was born in Jakarta, Indonesia on August 16, 1953 to parents Bunjamin Widjaja and Kho Kiep Swan.
Lily, a faithful Catholic, was a widow to Paulus Goko Hendrata. During her childhood, Lily went to Santo Joseph Elementary school, was a member of Santo Alphonsus in Pademangan, Jakarta, and earned her diploma from SAA in Chandra Naya in Jakarta. Lily and Paulus had two daughters.
She worked briefly as an assistant pharmacist before she met the love of her life at the youth group at her local parish, Santo Alphonsus in Jakarta. Lily married Paulus on January 19, 1975, and then became a housewife. Through the support of her Mama in law, Anna Maria Kanginadi, Lily took a course in fashion designing. Her God given talent of good taste in fashion truly flourished when she was able to open her business, known as Lily Fashion. She was a young mom at the time.
Lily was highly involved in her daughter's education, was active in the Parent Teacher Association of Santo Joseph, Santa Maria, and Santa Ursula where Nadya went to school, and SMA Tarakanita where Claudia Olga went to school. She maintained very close friendships with her daughters' friends, as well as her daughters' friends' moms' group.
She always enjoyed chatting with friends and her presence brought great joy to others. She was passionate about travelling, cutting patterns for her fashion business in Jakarta, dining out with friends, cooking delicious meals, serving the community everywhere she went.
Lily was a U.S. permanent resident and an active member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, when she was visiting.
While living at her apartment in Jakarta, Indonesia, she was a well-known seamstress with many clients who enjoyed listening and sharing stories especially thanking God for all the blessings. She enjoyed spending time with friends, keeping in touch with everyone she knows, loving her family to the fullest through her delicious cooking and multiple talents.
Lily had so many beautiful dresses and outfits, that she made for her clients and especially for her daughters. She made Nadya's wedding gown as well as the bridesmaids' gowns.
Lily stayed active after her ovarian cancer diagnosis in 2008. She was a cancer survivor, after going through hysterectomy and chemotherapy treatments in Singapore. She prayed the rosary daily and aimed to attend Mass daily every time she could. Her faith is shown through her kindness to everyone she knows. Not only did she practice her faith, but she also lived it through everything that she did.
Lily served people from different paths of life and never met a stranger. She loved her family and community so dearly, with talents of connecting people that make us think of how connected we all are in this world and had so many dear friends from all of her travels.
She communicated daily with her daughters, even during the long distance when she had to be in Jakarta while her daughters were in the U.S.
Since her beloved husband's passing, Lily had been visiting family members and friends anytime she could who live in the U.S., in other parts of Indonesia, as well as Australia.
Lily reunited her family in Plano, Texas, on Christmas Day. Lily and her younger daughter, Olga Hendrata, passed away on December 29, 2022, shortly after visiting the ICE Exhibit at the Gaylord Resort when the tragic accident happened.
Lily is survived by her daughter Nadya Collard and sons in law Corey Collard and Riyanto Ginting, grandchildren Cayden, Cayla, Calson Ginting and James Collard, her beloved siblings, cousins, brothers in law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, friends, clients, and church staff.
