Linda Brown, of Covington, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025, at the age of 82. Linda VanHorn Brown was born in Mt. Airy, Georgia and moved to Atlanta at 17 years old to begin her career. While working in Atlanta, she met her future husband, Richard. Upon moving to Covington, they raised three sons, Scott, Jef and Michael. A devoted full-time wife and mother, Linda supported and encouraged her family in sports, scouting, and church activities. Linda was the co-founder of an evangelistic ministry known as Mid-Wives that would go door to door and share the gospel with anyone who would listen. A member of Prospect at Oak Hill since 1974, Linda participated fully in the life and ministries of the church. Her most cherished role was as a young girls Sunday School teacher where she taught, mentored and prayed for many young women while staying active in their adult lives.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Richard. She leaves behind three sons, Scott (Melody), Jef (Molly), and Michael, and four grandsons Graham, Ellis, Jake and Brett.
A memorial service will be held at Prospect Church at Oak Hill in Covington on Saturday March 29th. Visitation will be at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that gifts be given in Linda’s name to Elks Aidmore at www.elksaidmore.com.
