Linda Theresa Burridge, a beacon of joy and strength, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, in
Brighton, Colorado, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Dubuque, Iowa, on May 13, 1947, Linda's infectious smile and unwavering positivity touched the lives of all who knew her.
Linda was a proud graduate of George Washington High School, class of 1965. Her quest for knowledge led her to attend the University of Colorado Denver Center, where she studied for two years, laying a foundation of lifelong learning and curiosity. Linda's professional journey was marked by her tenure as a receptionist and customer service representative at United Power in
Brighton, Colorado, from 1986 until her happy retirement in 2001. Her dedication and warm demeanor made her a beloved figure among her colleagues and those she served.
Outside of work, Linda's passions painted a vivid picture of her adventurous spirit. She found joy in camping and jeeping in the Colorado mountains, where she also contributed to building a family cabin in Westcliffe. With the sky as her canvas, Linda was a crew chief and co-pilot for a hot air balloon, reveling in the excitement of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta and flights across the Colorado landscape. Her love for ballooning was a testament to her appreciation of life's grandeur and freedom.
Linda's son, Brian James Burridge, was born on October 3, 1974, and became the center of her world until his untimely passing on March 2, 2015. Her devotion to Brian was paralleled by her support for his passion for vintage Corvette racing, traveling to events across the West and sharing in the thrills of the sport. Linda's husband, James Lyle Burridge, stood by her side as a loving partner throughout their journey together, sharing in the joys, sorrows, and adventures that life presented.
An animal lover at heart, Linda's home was always filled with the warmth and companionship of her cherished pets, including cats, ferrets, Saint Bernards, and four Newfoundland dogs. Her love for animals was just one aspect of her generous and nurturing nature.
Linda's enthusiasm for life was matched by her involvement in the community and the friendships she cultivated. Whether it was through her support of street rod and Corvette events or crocheting blankets in favorite colors as gifts for friends, Linda's spirit of engagement and camaraderie was evident to all.
As we remember Linda, we are reminded of the words of Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Linda's legacy of love, adventure, and kindness will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her.
Linda's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, adventure, and compassion. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were graced by her presence. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the stars guide travelers in the night sky.
As we say goodbye to Linda Theresa Burridge, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a journey marked by love, laughter, and the courage to embrace every moment. Her spirit will continue to soar, just as she once soared above the mountains she loved so dearly.
