Linda Janell Grant, age 65, of Monett, Missouri, entered into her heavenly home on August 30, 2025, after a courageous three-year battle with glioblastoma. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend, Linda lived her life faithfully, loving the Lord and others with sincerity and joy.
She was born in Lamar, Missouri, to Calvin and Joyce Ogden and grew up in a close-knit family that shaped her servant's heart. Linda graduated from Lockwood High School in 1978, earned her B.S. in Education from Missouri Southern State College in 1992, and later completed her Master's of Education in Administration from William Woods University in 2003. She dedicated 24 years to teaching in the Lamar R-1 and Ozark R-VI School Districts, where she touched countless lives both inside and outside the classroom. Beyond teaching, she also coached middle school volleyball and high school cheerleading, investing her time and energy in helping students grow in skill, character, and confidence.
Linda was united in marriage to Fred Grant, who survives her. She is also lovingly remembered by her three sons, Jared Walker (Nicki), Levi Walker (Faith), and Cody Walker (Kristin); her grandchildren, Baylee, Blair, Zoey, Liam, and Chessa; and her siblings, Steven Ogden (Debbie), Brenda Kemp, Bob Ogden (Edie), Kenneth Ogden, Craig Ogden (Carole), and Cinda Lee (Steven). She will be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A lifelong Christian, Linda actively worshiped and served in congregations throughout Lockwood, Lamar, and Springfield before making her church home at New Site Baptist Church in Monett. From childhood onward, she displayed a servant's spirit-whether helping her mother with her younger siblings, volunteering at church, teaching in the classroom, or working multiple jobs to provide for her family. She cherished her role as wife, mom, and grandmother most of all, treasuring time spent with family across generations.
Linda's life was one of love, service, and perseverance. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on September 5, 2025, at New Site Baptist Church in Monett, Missouri. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the service at noon. Graveside services will follow at IOOF First Christian Church Cemetery in Golden City, Missouri, at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mailed to New Site Baptist Church, PO Box 731, Monett, MO 65708 or to a charity of your choice.
