It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Gale Hughes who departed this life peacefully at her home surrounded by family on October 9, 2025, at the age of 75.
Linda worked at the US Post Office for over 8 years after working for Burlington Industries for over 30 years.
Linda was a devoted church member at County Line Baptist Church in Java, Virginia and a loving Mother, Sister, Grandparent and Great-Grandparent. She loved going to the beach and mountains with family and Jax, her beloved poodle.
Linda is survived by: her spouse of 40 years Billy R. Walden;
She was a devoted mother to her three daughters: Tammy G. Holland (Fred) of Vernon Hill, VA, Teresa G. Whitt (Chris) of South Boston, VA and Tonya P Allred (Ricky) of Elon, N.C. They were her pride and joy and she always said their birth changed her life for the better and they felt that in the love and support she provided every day. A sister, Debra Hess of Vernon Hill, VA, who never left her side since her fall in June, one niece, Beth Bennett (Emily) of Blairs, VA, one nephew Jonathan Bennett (Amy) of Petersburg, VA and her heart son, Earle. T Orme III of Annapolis, Maryland. Her family will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
Eight grandchildren: Sarah Cook (Russell), Bronson Holland, Tiffany Holland, Levi Whitt, Benjamin Whitt, Logan Allred, Trent Allred and Earle T. Orme IV.
Three Great-Grandchildren: Christopher Cook, Trinity Cook and Sawyer Holland.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents: John and Lillian Hughes of Vernon Hill, VA.
The service will be on Sunday, October 12th at County Line Baptist Church, at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Michael McDowell conducting the service. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to service and other times at her home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to County Line Baptist Church or your favorite charity.
