Linda Diane (Ruggs) Laster departed this life peacefully on Monday morning, September 8, 2025. She was born on June 8, 1953, in Sarasota, Florida, to the late Inez Turner Ruggs and the late Rev. Dr. Clifton Ruggs. At a young age, she relocated with her family to the Pittsburgh area, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior-a decision that would shape her life of strength, perseverance, and faith.
Linda was a devoted mother who faced life's challenges with determination and grace. As a young single mother, she remained committed to bettering herself and her family. She graduated from Gladstone High School and went on to earn a certification in Court Stenography from the Connelly Skills Learning Center in 1977. Never one to rest on her accomplishments, she later earned her Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies from CCAC in 1998, graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA-all while working full time.
Linda served with dedication at the VA Hospital for 28 years as the Program Clerk of Credentialing and Privileging. During her tenure, she received numerous commendations and acknowledgments for her exemplary work. In 2003, Linda pursued her passion for fashion by founding Fashions by Lin, a custom clothing business through which she designed and shipped orders across the country.
She loved to travel, enjoyed music, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Linda was known for her vibrant spirit, unwavering work ethic, and deep love for her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Inez Turner Ruggs, Rev. Dr. Clifton Ruggs, and Mrs. Ida Mae Ruggs; and her sisters, Lorene Ruggs and Lois Elizabeth Scales
Linda leaves to cherish her memory her devoted son, Rev. Gerald M. Laster (Barbara) of Pittsburgh; her siblings, Bishop Dr. Clifton J. Ruggs (Jo-Ann) of Missouri, Robert Ruggs, Lisa Tomblin, and Lynette Morris (James), all of Pittsburgh; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Linda's life was a testament to strength, love, and faith. Her legacy lives on in all who knew her.
