There's a breathtaking quilt in the Lord's arms, wrapping her with peace and comfort. Linda Lukes, 69 years young, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025, at her home, with her best friend and husband by her side and holding her hand, Jim. With open arms, her children, Jennifer and Jonathon, greeted her with blooms of heavenly flowers.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 307 West Main Street, Decorah, IA 52101, with Father Daniel Knipper presiding. Burial will be in the St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Helms Funeral Home, 306 E. Water Street in Decorah, and from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning. The Rosary will start at 2:15 p.m. on Friday.
In Lieu of flowers: Memorials may go to WinnMed Hospice, St. Benedict School, or the Church Choir.
Linda was born on October 29, 1955, to Conrad and Gertrude (Loesch) Hageman. She was raised on the family farm east of Calmar, IA. She was one of eight children.
Jim and Linda were married on May 15, 1976. They were married for 49 wonderful years. On November 25, 1978, they welcomed their twins, Jennifer and Jonathan, into the world, and their family was complete.
Linda enjoyed many crafts, but quilting was truly a passion of hers. She made many quilts that will be treasured by her family and friends.
Remember her for her smile and laughter for 48 years of hairdressing.
Survived by her husband: Jim, two granddaughters: Madeline Murphy and Gabriella Murphy of Cave Creek, Arizona, Dan Murphy of Cave Creek, AZ, siblings: Mary Lou Hageman of Decorah, IA, Tom (Denise) Hageman Ossian, IA, Howard (Sandy) Hageman of Elk City, OK, Lois (Cliff) Holthaus of Decorah, IA, Sam (Lisa) Hageman Fort Atkinson, IA, Sue Broderick of Decorah, IA, and Roy (Patty) Hageman of Calmar, Ia. In-laws: Madonna (Art) Samec, Jesup, IA, Mary Ann (Duane) Panos, Swisher, IA, Ray (Joyce) Lukes, Protivin, IA, Margie (Linus) Barloon Decorah, IA, Marcie (John) Miller Waukon, IA, Julie Lukes Calmar, IA, and Millie (Larry) Vine Davenport, Ia. Numerous nieces and nephews and friends she considered family.
She is preceded in death by her children: Jonathan Lukes and Jennifer Lukes Murphy, her parents: Conrad and Gertrude Hageman, her father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Christine Lukes, Dick Headington, her brother-in-laws, Tim Broderick and Richard Lukes.
