Linda Skinner Murphy, 76, of Laurens and wife of 58 years to Charles Richard Murphy, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025, at NHC in Laurens.
Born in Ware Shoals on February 5, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Ralph Page and Edith Alewine Skinner. After working many years at Laurens Glass and Walmart Distribution, Linda retired from a 20-year career at AMT, where she served as the company secretary/treasurer. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she taught children's Sunday School for many years. Her commitment to community service was further exemplified by her 50-year membership in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, during which she held all offices and made lifelong friendships. In her earlier years, Linda found joy in participating in the church's softball league, fishing, and she remained an avid fan of ACC college basketball throughout her life.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Richard "Scott" Murphy (Tina), Melissa Murphy Rush (Todd), and Lori Murphy Wham (Bil); grandchildren, Scottie Murphy (Gwen), Thomas Murphy, Mikayla Murphy (Larry), and Ashley Galloway (Brandon), Brad Galloway, Bailey Rush Hair (Joey), Richard Murphy Rush (Emma), Hayden Wham, and Mason Wham; great-grandchildren, Andrae, Lillie, Jacob, Isabella, Kingston, Sophia, Wade, Olivia, Xavier, Ryker, Brayden, and Joseph; a brother, Roger Skinner (Pat); and a sister, Susan McCoy (Neil).
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a baby brother, Danny Skinner.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM Friday, November 21, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Ludwig Weaver and Rev. Tim Marsh. The family will receive friends in Hunter Hall one hour prior to the service.
A private family graveside will be held at Westview Memorial Park.
The family will be at the home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hejaz Shriners Children's Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
