Phyllis Blackwell Obituary

Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Preston Furman and Ruby Dell Shipman. Phyllis was a homemaker where she cared for her grandchildren and was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church where she served in the kitchen ministry and was an integral part of the early Liberian missions. Phyllis loved her fur-baby, Raven.
In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by her children, Rene Werts, Steven Blackwell, Jr., and Susan Godfrin; grandchildren, Kristopher Werts (Kasha), Jeremy Godfrin (Haylee), Courtney Werts, Corbin Godfrin, Elise Godfrin, and Maegan Godfrin; great grandchildren, Emma Blackwell (raised in the home) and Skylar Godfrin; siblings, Evelyn Rankin (Charles), Preston Shipman (Barbara), Elaine Shipman and Harriett Shipman.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two grandchildren, Abbigail Blackwell and Thomas Blackwell and a sister Carol Leopard.
There are no services planned at this time.
The family would like to thank Izzy, Tina, and all of the caregivers at Agape Hospice for all of their love shown to Mrs. Blackwell and the family during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Agape Hospice, 326 Montague Ave, Greenwood, SC 29649.
