Maxine Land, 92, of Laurens, peacefully passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Maxine was born in Chattanooga, TN on March 22, 1933. She was a daughter of the late Claude and Stella Payne Land. She was born during the depression era. Living during this difficult period attributed to her hard-working nature, her pride in her independence, and her love and zest for life. She retired from Torrington where she worked as a security guard. She spent time living on Lake Greenwood and in Myrtle Beach. She loved both places dearly. Fond memories were made and lots of adventures were had on the golfcart, jet skis, pontoons, and paddle boats. She was still getting tattoos and riding motorcycles in her sixties. Her favorite hobby was gardening and working in her yard. She always had something beautiful blooming. And she made the best banana pudding you've ever tasted! Her legacy proudly lives on in her family. We will be forever grateful for the many life lessons she was able to teach us throughout her time here on this Earth.
Maxine had a heart of gold and was known for her generosity and warmth. She had a feisty personality and kind spirit. She was loving, fun and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Williams, Karen Williams McClain, and Cynthia Williams Spires; grandchildren, Shannon Aiken (Scott), Lenear Spires (Tabitha Smith), Kelsey Partin (Matthew), Marcus McClain (Nikita), Carmen Thomas (Jason High), and Cameron McAbee (Kala Waters); great grandchildren, Stella and Hayes Aiken, Lennon Spires, Copeland, Gray and Crew Partin, and Emma Grace and Lillie McAbee; son-in-law, Marc McClain; close friends, Walter Campbell and Tom and Scherry Landis; and her two special dogs, Rosita and Abby.
She was predeceased by her siblings of Chattanooga, TN, Betty Land Campbell, Buck, Bootsie, and Bill Land and her son-in-law, Paul Spires.
No services are planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Laurens County Humane Society, 793 Poplar Street, Laurens, SC 29360.
