Herman "Donnie" Davis, 85, of Laurens, and husband of Arlene Pearson Davis, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Prisma Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Laurens on March 1, 1940, he was a son of the late Samel Jefferson and Ida Mae Madden Davis. Donnie served his country for ten years in the National Guard as a Track Vehicle Mechanic. He retired from GE as a master machinist, a testament to his skill and dedication to his craft. Donnie was a man of faith and a devoted member of Saint James Methodist Church. His passion for mentoring young minds was evident in his role as Scout Master of Troop 78, where he guided many young men to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, a distinction he himself held with pride. In addition to his professional and community endeavors, Donnie was a master mechanic with a love for working on cars. His expertise extended to the art of jewelry making, where he was known as a master jeweler, skillfully crafting pieces with gems and stones.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by his children, Herman Donald Davis, Jr. (Beth), Andre Shawn Davis (Betsy), and Dottie Davis (Heath); grandchildren, Joshua W. Davis, MD (Margaux), Jamie Davis, Kayla Heyob (Craig), Corbett Davis, Riley Davis, Samuel C. Davis, Ethan Davis, and Anna Brooke Davis; great grandchildren, Lana Kate Davis, Weston Craig Heyob, William Gray Heyob, River James Heyob, and Cooper Leigh Heyob.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, James Ronald Davis.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Forest Lawn Cemetery conducted by Rev. Clyde Scott with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.
The family will be at the home.

Arlene, children and family
Sending our sympathy in the loss of your beloved Donnie Davis. We respected him so much. Remember his rock collection along with his father-in- laws collection. Donnie was a man who could do a little bit of everything and very well read. He loved his family especially his
wonderful wife and
very proud of his children and grandchildren.
