Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Sue Norris, 82, of Hokes Bluff, will be on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Glencoe Hokes Bluff Chapel with Bill McCarver, Dr. Charlie Gardner and Reverend Allen Hudson officiating the services. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:00 until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ms. Norris passed away December 23, 2022. Mrs. Norris was preceded in death by her Husband: Kenneth Wayne Norris; Daughter: Leslie Waters; Parents: Thomas B. and Eva Bell LeRoy Alford; Brother: Tim Alford.
Linda Sue Norris was a native and lifelong resident of Hokes Bluff. She was a descendant of the Alford family, one of the founding families of the area. Linda was a proud graduate of Hokes Bluff High School, Class of 1959. She and her husband Kenneth raised a beautiful family in Hokes Bluff. During this time, Linda became an active volunteer at Hokes Bluff schools. She drove a bus, served as a room mother and band booster and even videoed ball games for the high school coaches, whom she greatly loved. She also taught ceramics for many years. The elementary school was her home away from home. For her service, the playground is dedicated in her honor. Linda had the ability to help others in a special way. She loved people unconditionally, no matter what the circumstances. Generations of children were benefited by a kind gesture or sound word of advice from Linda Sue Norris.
She was a lover of history, genealogy, art, and had a passion for gardening. She catered weddings, making 100s of cakes through the years. Linda cooked for her family and many neighbors, week after week. She never tired of giving. The Hokes Bluff community has lost a genuine servant who truly fulfilled God's command to love one another.
Left to cherish the memories of Mrs. Linda Sue Norris are her Children: Lee Norris, Lisa (Jackie) Knighten and Son in law, Franky Waters; Grandchildren: Wayne (Kimberly) Hammond, Lindsey (Bo) Shirley, Dustin (Meaghan) Knighten, Catherine (Andrew) Bhagat, Christie (Wayne) Wilson, and Carla (Ethan) Fowler; 15 great grandchildren; Sisters: Mildred McCarver, Ruby McClain, Sherry Thornton; Brothers: Buddy Alford and Doug Alford and a host of nieces and nephews.
Linda was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
