Linda Mae (Buys) Schelhaas was born June 26, 1947, to John and Johanna Buys of Chandler MN. Linda attended Murray County Pleasant View School until it closed and then transferred to Chandler School. She grew up on her parents' family farm near Chandler and graduated from Chandler High School.
She met Robert Schelhaas, and they were married January 16, 1965, at his parents' farm near Edgerton. They later moved to the Schelhaas family farm when Robert's parents retired. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Ronald, Diane, and Kerri.
She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, sewing, camping, and visiting family and friends. She and Robert took bus trips and cruises and enjoyed going to music festivals over the years. Linda also enjoyed doing things for her family and others, sewing for nieces and family.
Linda worked at Edgebrook, the Edgerton Bakery, and did painting and refinishing work. She also volunteered at the Worthington Thrift Store.
Linda passed away February 27, 2025, at Avera@Home, the Pipestone County hospice house.
Linda is lovingly remembered by her husband Robert; children Ronald Schelhaas of Troy, N.Y., Diane (Jeff) Moddelmog of Grand Junction, CO., and Kerri (Steven) Voiss of Forest Lake, MN.; brother Leroy (Patsy) Buys of Chandler, MN; sisters-in-law Berdina Buys, Donna Buys, Genevieve Vis, and Geneva Vander Berg; grandchildren Devin Schelhaas, Emily Snyder, and Kristin Voiss; bonus grandchildren Viktor Voiss, Ellen Voiss, and Kari (Kaleb) Gilley; and 6 great-grandchildren Samantha Pickett, Remi Snyder, Robert Snyder, Rupert Snyder, Amelia Jane Gilley and Jacob Gilley.
