LYKENS - Linda Arlene Zilinski, age 77, died September 9, 2025 at UPMC West Shore Hospital. Linda was born on March 13, 1948 in Harrisburg, daughter of the late Robert and Arlene (Deibler) Lenker.
Linda was a 1966 graduate of Millersburg High School. After graduating high school Linda attended business school learning computer programming and worked at Commonwealth Telephone and the PA Public School Employees' Retirement System for several years in the 1960s.
While raising her four children she was an avid gardener and seamstress and was an active member of the Lykens Garden Club, serving many terms as President, Lykens Recreation Association, Cub Scout Den Leader and Girl Scout Daisy and Brownie Leader. Finding herself with an abundance of free time she took on the role as Upper Dauphin High School Band Booster President and also designed and sewed band front flags and costumes. She also sewed costumes for the Upper Dauphin High School musical productions and the Lykens Community Theater productions and providing the community with seamstress services as long as it didn't involve zippers.
With her children grown and able to do their own laundry, Linda found a new calling in becoming a Master Gardner through the Penn State Extension Service where for over 20 years she shared her extensive knowledge of growing food and ornamental plants and food preservation.
Linda was a life long member of the Lutheran church, first attending Salem Lutheran Church in Elizabethville and then after moving to Lykens she became a member of St. Christopher Lutheran Church. She served as church secreatary at Saint Christopher for over 30 years, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school and was a long time choir member. She also organized the making and collecting of many quilts for Lutheran World Relief.
In addition to her parents Linda is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Dennis E. Zilinski.
Linda is survived by her sons Jonathan (Jessica Davis), Alexandria, VA; Matthew (Amy), Wiconisco, PA; and Anthony (Kali Morrissey), Pittsburgh, PA; daughter, Elizabeth (Robert Matter), Hershey, PA; five grandsons Jakob, Ian, Bryce, Koen, and Aiden.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at St. Christopher Lutheran Church from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. A Memorial Services will begin at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher Lutheran Church, Lykens.
