Linnett A. Short of Virgil joined her Lord the morning of September 27th at Cayuga Medical Center surrounded by family, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Cortland on October 18, 1952, the daughter of William and Beverly Lukosavich. She graduated from Groton High School in 1971 and earned an Associate Degree from TC-3 in 1986. She joined the newly formed Tompkins County Solid Waste division soon after, working as an Educational Coordinator until her retirement 28 years later in 2010.
Linnett enjoyed crocheting, gardening, card making, and bird watching. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Harford. She was predeceased by her husband William E. Short of Virgil and a sister, Connie M. Oaksford, both in 2017.
Linnett is survived by her son, William Warner of Virgil, stepchildren, Macy Mae Short, Michelle Short, and Kristi (Brian) Slyker; grandchildren, Rebecca Odell, Adriana and Bryson Corl, and Austin Van Dee, Alyssa Gersch, Jessica Bush, Nicole Weisbrodt, Alex Short, and Isabella Short; brother in law, Bob Oaksford as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Monday, October 3rd starting at 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1 pm at Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Virgil Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Harford.
