Lisa Colleen Mathias

Lisa Colleen Mathias, age 61, of Centerburg, Ohio passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 20, 1964, in Mount Vernon, Ohio to Raymond Dean Updike and Doris Jeanette (Fling) Updike.
Lisa graduated from Centerburg High School, Class of 1982. She then continued her education graduating from Otterbein College in 1985 with an associate degree in nursing. Lisa loved caring for the aging population in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. She used her skills and talents through her employment at Saber Health Care to bring care to those who needed it most.
Lisa married the love of her life, Donald Steven Mathias on July 18, 1988. Together they shared 37 wonderful years of marriage.
Lisa was a member of the Church at Chapel Hill in Mount Vernon and attended the Centerburg Church of Christ. She loved God and showed her dedication to Him by her actions. Her proudest achievement was motherhood. Lisa was dedicated to raising her family and being an example of kindness and strength. She was a special lady who will be forever loved and deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Steve Mathias; mother, Jeanette Updike; sons, Matt (Kendra) Mathias, Bryce Mathias, Tyler (Kim) Mathias, and Brady (Ashley) Mathias; grandchildren, Hunter, Jordan, Emma, Devin, Cooper, Grayson, Brantley, and Brynn; great-grandchild, Jackson; brother, Michael (Paula) Updike; sisters, Joyce (Chic) Updike – Sanese, Brenda (Johnny) Gibson, and Chriss (Randy) White.
Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Dean Updike.
The family would like to acknowledge all the special friends who were with Lisa all the way through this journey – Carol, Kris, Shannon, Roxanne and many more. There are also many, many special aunts, uncles, and cousins who were a huge support during this time.
May Lisa's love, her big caring heart, and her fun and loving demeanor live on in her boys and grandchildren.
Friends may call on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. at Centerburg Church of Christ, 3830 Columbus Road, Centerburg, Ohio 43011. A Funeral Service will be held after visitation at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the church. Graveside prayers will immediately follow at Eastview Cemetery, Centerburg, Ohio. Pastor Dan Whisner officiating.
