Lizzietta Booker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kernan Funeral Service on Aug. 12, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Lizzietta A. Booker, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great

grandmother, and friend, was born on October 28, 1949, in River Rouge,

Michigan, the fourth child of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie and Ella

Turner. In the early morning hours of August 7, 2025, Lizzietta

peacefully fell asleep in death at her home. She was preceded in death

by her parents and her siblings Willie Hughes, Wanda Walker,

Kimberly Morris, and Addie Maxine Sandusky.

Lizzietta was educated in the Ecorse Public Schools, where she

excelled in English and Typing. Early in life, she welcomed her

daughter, Shawntae Sheree, and son, William Richard.

She was united in marriage to Willie Edward "Lonnie" Anderson

January 25, 1973 in Ecorse, Michigan, and together they welcomed one

daughter, Lanie LaShelle.

In 1980, Lizzietta met the love of her life, Brian Keith Booker, and the

two were married on January 30, 1982. From this union, one son was

born: Brian Keith Jr. Lizzietta and Brian shared a deep and tender

bond, always affectionately referring to each other as "Precious", a

term that captured the love, respect, and devotion they held for one

another throughout their marriage.

A woman of resilience, dedication, and compassion, Lizzietta worked in

various roles throughout her life. She spent many years as a

receptionist for Dr. Chuk Nwokedi, where her warm personality and

professionalism endeared her to patients. After a brief period at

General Motors, she took part in a displaced worker program, which

opened the door to her lifelong calling in nursing. She completed her

nursing studies at Highland Park Community College-one of only two

students to finish the program-and went on to earn her Bachelor of

Science in Nursing from the University of Detroit Mercy.

Her nursing career included service as a nurse administrator at

Pine Knoll Convalescent Center and as a dedicated bedside

nurse at Vibra Hospital of Southeastern Michigan, where she

cared for patients with skill and heart until her retirement.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, baptized at the age of fourteen, she

found joy and purpose in her God, Jehovah. She faithfully participated

in the ministry by serving as an auxiliary pioneer, giving time each

month, helping others learn about the Good News of God's Kingdom.

She was also part of a Theocratic Ministry School designed to be more

effective in teaching Bible truths. Her dedication to her faith was

evident in the love, kindness, and humility she showed to everyone she

met.

Beyond her career and ministry, Lizzietta found joy in gardening,

shopping, cooking, and hairstyling. Her backyard bloomed with over

twenty varieties of flowers, plants, and vegetables, each tended with

love and care. Her personality was as vibrant as her garden-always

ready with a warm greeting, a helping hand, or a word of

encouragement for her neighbors and her fellow brothers and sisters

in the Kingdom Hall.

Lizzietta's greatest joy was her family. She leaves to cherish her

memory her devoted husband, Brian; her children, Shawntae Sheree

Turner, William Richard Turner (Darlene DeShawn), Lanie LaShelle

Dixon (Michael Anthony), and Brian Keith Booker II; her siblings Harvey

Hughes, Charlie F. Turner, Anthony Turner, Cornell Turner, and Juan

Turner; seven grandchildren; William Richard Turner III, Whitney

Michelle Cole, Torre Javon Lee, Micah McCall Dixon, and Ella Elizabeth

Dixon; one great-grandchild, Terence D. Cook Jr.; and a host of in-laws,

nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Her light, laughter, and love will be deeply missed and forever

remembered by all whose lives she touched.

A visitation will be held this Friday, August 15th, 2025, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, at Kernan's Funeral Services, 1020 Fort Street, Lincoln Park, Michigan.
