Dr. Peter Thomas Muller, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and compassionate physician, passed away on August 1, 2025. He was 78 years old.
Born June 25 of 1947 in New York, Peter grew up on Long Island as one of four children of Jacob and Octavia Muller. He attended the University of Detroit Mercy in the 1960s, where he met his beloved wife, Ginny. Together, they shared a love of theater and a spirit of adventure, marrying in 1969 and beginning a rich life side-by-side.
Peter pursued a career in medicine at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, where he discovered his passion for pediatrics. He completed his residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, and went on to found the Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine in Troy. As a pediatrician, Peter was deeply respected for his skill, his empathy, and his unwavering dedication to his patients. He cared for countless children, including many with complex disabilities, always offering their families both comfort and expert care.
Over the course of his career, Peter also served as an elected board member for the Michigan State Medical Society, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and New Horizons, lending his leadership and insight to the broader medical community.
Peter and Ginny made their home in Birmingham, Michigan, where they raised their four children in a household full of joy, curiosity, and laughter. A passionate traveler, Peter took his family on adventures across North America and throughout the western hemisphere, nurturing a lifelong love of exploration and learning in those around him.
He is survived by his children Adam, Taran, Kate, and Christopher and by his grandchildren, Wylie, Verity, and Evelyn. He took great pride in seeing each of his children grow into thoughtful, successful adults and cherished his role as a grandfather. Peter loved his family deeply and unconditionally. His wisdom, humor, and generous heart will be profoundly missed.
