Lloyd Andersen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Serenity Funeral Home of Bluffdale on Mar. 15, 2025.
Lloyd N. Andersen (95) passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Lloyd was the fifth of seven children born to David O. Andersen and Ora Nelson in Brigham City, Utah, on October 10, 1929. Contrary to his siblings jestful assertions, his birth did not cause the Great Depression.
Because of the loss of his arm in a tragic accident at the age of four, Lloyd was easily remembered as "the man with one arm." However he never considered himself as disabled and was able to participate in everyday life activities.
He attended Box Elder High School, Brigham Young University and served an LDS mission to Eastern Canada. While on his mission, his sister Lynette suggested to her roommate Elaine Dean that she write to him. This correspondence led to their marriage on June 17, 1952 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Elder Ezra Taft Benson officiated at their sealing.
He completed his Bachelor's degree in 1953 at Brigham Young University in Speech with a teaching certificate. He later completed a Master's Degree in School Administration.
After graduation, Lloyd was hired by the Church Education System where he cherished his career teaching seminary and Institute. His teaching assignments took the family far and wide. He taught in Arizona, Ogden, New Zealand, Springville, Fresno, Sacramento and Ireland.
A faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lloyd served in many capacities including counselor in a stake presidency, high counselor and bishop.
Lloyd and Elaine also served together as Senior missionaries in Ireland and Nauvoo.
His greatest joys came from life with his sweetheart of 73 years, -- Elaine; their seven children--
David (Kerry) Andersen of Orem, Utah; Jeff (Lori) Andersen of Rexburg, Idaho; Debra (Dan) Przybyla, Sheryl (Jon) Khushigian of Sanger, California; Blaine (Marci) Andersen of Maitland, Florida; Ronald Andersen of Lehi, Utah; and Douglas (Debra) Andersen of Pleasant Grove, Utah; 41 grandchildren, 88 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, his six siblings: Nida Rawlinson, Dwayne Andersen, David Odell Andersen,
Karma Huish, Lynette Carter and Paul Andersen, and his daughter Debbie, grandson Darren Przybyla and granddaughter Elizabeth Andersen.
A viewing will be held on Friday Evening, March 21, 2025 from 6-8 pm at the Aspen 5th Ward LDS chapel at 828 W 1600 N Orem, Utah and on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 9:30-10:30 am with the funeral service following at 11:00 am at the same location. Interment will be at the American Fork City Cemetery, 26 W 600 N, American Fork, Utah.

I had the blessing of being Brother Andersen“s secretary at the Fresno State Institute in California. He was over Seminaries at that time. He was so patient as I learned my job.
We were blessed to live in the same ward with the Andersen family. They were such wonderful examples of faith and service.
I have been blessed to be best friends with their daughter, Sheryl. She has shared wonderful stories of her parents examples.
Brother Andersen has been a blessing in my life. He will be missed. What an exceptional man and disciple of Jesus Christ!
