Lloyd Baker

Lloyd "Scoot" Baker, 83, passed away on July 13, 2025, surrounded by family at his home in Brookfield. Lloyd was born on July 25, 1941, at his home in Brookfield, VT, to parents Henry and Doris Baker. Scoot graduated from Northfield High School in 1959. After high school, Lloyd went to the Vermont Agricultural and Technical Institute in Randolph Center. He proudly farmed with his Dad and took over operations in 1980. He loved to be around his "girls", otherwise known as his Jersey dairy cows.
Besides working, family was his life. He was also a proud lifelong Mason at Mystic Phoenix Star Lodge in Brookfield, VT, having just received his 60-year membership pin last year. He continued the farming tradition with his son Jason. He also loved to "fix fence," which was code for sitting on the porch and people watching.
Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, his three sisters, Margaret, Ruby, and Neva. He is also predeceased by his mother-in-law Alice Gourdreau and brother-in-law Rejan Pellerin and Warren Shangraw, and sister in law Elen Pellerin, nieces Kathleen Baker, Debbie Gilbert and nephew Dennis Shangraw.
He is survived by his wife, Ghislaine, his sons Tom (Tammi), Brian (Ann), and Jason (Carrie). His two brothers, Earl (Janet), Dean (Wendy), and his grandchildren, Connor, Henry, Emily, and Blake. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Gary Cunningham, Sister-in-Law Pierrette (John) Gilbert, Jacinthe Pellerin, Solange (Dennis) Fedele, Martine Patterson (Karjala Kopenan), brother-in-laws Rodrigue, Michel (Marlene), Richard Pellerin, and many beloved nephews and nieces. Of course, the family cannot forget to mention his cow Cathy.
There will be graveside services on July 26th 11 am at the Brookfield Cemetery, with a reception to follow at his son's home.
