Predecease by his mother Alzada L. Mitchell, his sister Elizabeth (Betty) L. Flood and his brother Edmund (Bun Bun) Coleman, Lloyd M. Coleman affectionately known to everyone as "Mugs" was born on February 23, 1937 in Summit, New Jersey and transitioned into eternal life on October 15, 2024.
Raised in Summit, he attended and graduated from the Summit Public school system in 1956. Throughout his junior and senior high school years, he was very well known for completing in sports and receiving numerous awards and trophies. His talent playing Offensive and Defensive Lineman in Football, a Center in Basketball and a Catcher in Baseball earned him the recognition as a 3 sport All-American. His outstanding baseball skills led him try out for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Due to knee problems, he did not make the team. However, this set back did not stop his unwavering passion for baseball as he continued playing in a Semi-Professional league in Newark.
He found his true calling with truck driving which would become his life-long passion. He started his professional truck driving when he worked for Wakefern Food Corporation driving 18 wheelers for many years. This is where his passion for trucks bloomed. After Wakefern, he worked for the City of Summit, several major trucking companies and finally Dunkin Doughnuts. There wasn't a truck he could not drive and he was always willing to teach anyone who had an interest in truck driving. If you had a conversation with him, the conversation would quickly be about trucks.
Throughout his working career, he was an extremely dedicated and hard worker. A testament to his unbelievable work ethic is that he never took a day off or took a vacation.
A loving father, Mugs leaves to cherish his memories 3 sons, Craig J. Coleman of Las Vegas, NV., Kyle M. Coleman of Newark, NJ., Corey M. Coleman of Springfield, NJ., 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 nephew, 3 nieces and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
We, the family, gratefully acknowledge all acts of kindness and sympathy extended to us during the loss of our Father and loved one.
