Lloyd Earney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO on Nov. 19, 2025.
Lloyd "Red" William Earney, of Steelville, MO, was born on Tuesday, August 28, 1928, in Wesco, MO to Treff Olden Earney, Sr. and Myrtle Earney, nee Edwards. He passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025 at the Missouri Veteran's Home in St. James, MO, at the age of 97 years, 2 months and 20 days.
Lloyd proudly joined the United States Army, where he served his country honorably during the Korean War. He spent two years overseas, rose to the rank of Corporal, and was discharged in October of 1952. On December 3, 1955, Lloyd married the love of his life, Charlotte Stout, in Steelville, Missouri. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with four children: Billie, Roy, Ivan, and Valanna. A dedicated and hardworking man, Lloyd spent part of his career mining at Pea Ridge in Sullivan, Missouri. He later served as a grader operator for Crawford County Road District 1 and was previously a commissioned Crawford County Deputy. Lloyd was also a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved mowing grass, so much so that he turned it into a business-helping neighbors keep their lawns trimmed while repairing their lawn mowers on the side. He loved to tinker, to rebuild jeeps and old fire engines, finding satisfaction in bringing old machines back to life. Lloyd was happiest when he had something to tinker with. He enjoyed rebuilding jeeps and old fire engines, finding joy in bringing machinery back to life. He loved fishing, visiting with friends, and sharing coffee and socializing at the Spare Rib Inn. If you were with Lloyd, you were guaranteed a good story-usually told with a grin, and always worth hearing. Children held a special place in his heart. He kept candy in his pockets just for them, ready to share a treat and a smile.
Above all, Lloyd was devoted to his family. They were his pride, his joy, and the center of his world. His love, humor, and steadfast presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Earney; father, Treff Earney, Sr.; mother who raised him, Norma Lee Earney; parents-in-law, Robert and Irma Stout; son, Ivan Lloyd Earney; son-in-law, Larry Davis; great grandson Skylar Glore.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Earney of Steelville, MO; children, Billie Davis of Ozark, MO, Roy Earney and Valanna (husband Gene) Garms both of Steelville, MO; daughter-in-law, Vickie Earney of Steelville, MO; sister, Esther Frank of Steelville, MO; grandchildren, J.R. Davis (wife Chelsea) of Willard, MO, Chris Davis (wife Emilee) of Jersey City, NJ, Jessica Marks (husband Levi) of Burnsville, NC and Jennifer Glore (husband Kevin) of Steelville, MO; great grandchildren, Luke, Adam and Jude Marks, Lyric, Liberty and Emelia Glore and Audrey Davis; sister-in-law Sandy Earney of Steelville, MO; brother-in-law Dave Wise of St. James, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. Celebration of Life immediately followed at 7:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating and full military honors. The service was live-streamed on Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO's Facebook Page.
