Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio - Lloyd Henry Nelson, age 87, entered into the Lords care on Friday, March 21, 2025, after a short illness. He was born on June 19, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio, the oldest child of Esther Viola (Hallstrom) and John Henry Nelson. Lloyd was a 1955 graduate of West Geauga High School in Chesterland, Ohio, and served in the Army National Guard with the 107th Armored Cavalry Division.
On May 23, 1970 he married Barbara Jean Brubaker. Together they have lived in Cuyahoga Falls for over fifty years. Lloyd worked as a welder for the W.S. Tyler Company for over twenty-five years until they relocated. Graco Rubbermaid eleven years, retiring in 2003.
He was a member of the Relentless Church of Akron for the past forty years. Doing nursing home ministries and was active in the visitation program. Lloyd volunteered at Akron City Hospital and for Haven Arrest, ministering to people on the street and in shelters. He was an active prayer warrior and spent his time reading his Bible, and sharing the Lord’s word wherever he went.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Donald Irwin Nelson. Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years Barb, his son, Matthew Henry Nelson at home; his sister, Ardean Blenda Baumgardner of Kinsman, Ohio; his brother, Eric John Henry (Janet) Nelson of Garrettsville, Ohio; many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Noon, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio, with Pastor Lindsay Shuman and her father Pastor David Fisher will be officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 31st from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
