It is with profound grief and heavy hearts that we announce the death of Logan Ray James of Bridge Creek, Oklahoma, who passed away from this life on September 28, 2024, following a tragic car accident. He was 20 years old. Born in Norman, Oklahoma, on August 3, 2004, Logan was the son of Tracy Marie Williams and Tommy Earl James.
Born to be a star athlete, Logan excelled in sports from the time he was a very little boy. Starting at age four, he played both football and baseball, perfecting his skills in both sports throughout his childhood. He attended Bridge Creek High School where he started on both the baseball and football teams all four years. Watching him play catcher was inspirational, and during his high school career Logan was awarded both the Mr. Hustle Award and the Golden Glove Award. Though he thrived playing baseball, football was always his greatest passion. He received countless awards and accolades for his prowess on the football field including the Bobcat Award in 2018, the Golden Buckle award in 2020, and in 2021, Logan was named Co-Defensive All-District MVP, All Star, and the North MVP for the North/South All Star game. He graduated in 2022 and went on to play football at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Though his athletic career was vital to who he was, nothing brought Logan more joy than spending time with the people he loved. He enjoyed going to the lake and spending time with the Linn family, spending time with Jason and all of his dear friends, working at Ro Ky Construction with his amigo Shawn, and being with Carmen, the love of his life. He was also a particularly loyal and protective big brother to all his siblings.
His mother, Tracy, and his father, Tommy, will forever cherish his memory, along with his Nana and Papa, Melva and Ray Williams, brothers Elijah James, Beu James, Layton Edwards, Landon Edwards, and Blake Olterman, and his sister, Jasmon Olterman. Logan is also survived by the light of his life, girlfriend Carmen Rodriguez; aunts Tammy Williams, Regina Vaughn and husband John, Angela Prall and husband Eric, and Brenda Meier and husband Don; uncles Timmy Williams and wife Barbara, Dustin Williams, Bryan James and wife Trenette, and Allen James and wife Debbie; his great-aunt, Naomi Marston and husband L.D.; along with many cousins, friends, and classmates who loved him very much. Last but certainly not least, Logan is survived by his beloved dog Apollo Ray. Preceding him in death are his Grandma and Grandpa James, Great-Grandma and Grandpa Medearis, Great-Grandma and Grandpa Gladys and Farrell Williams, aunt and uncle Doris and Lynn Odom, uncle and aunt Daryl and Carolyn Williams, aunt and uncle Glenda and Kenneth Whinery, and his great-aunt, Joan Knight.
May Logan find everlasting comfort and peace in the presence of our Lord and Savior. He will be deeply missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
