Lois Harrell, age 84, of Benson, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 after a short battle with an extremely aggressive form of cancer. Born on the 22nd of May, 1940 in Broadhead, Kentucky to Carter and Marie Sutton. Lois loved and enjoyed gardening, particularly her flowers. And man, she could make anything grow! She would can and put up vegetables from the garden. Come winter, we'd enjoy them along with her blackberry jam - that was much better than anything from a store. Her southern-style cooking was enjoyed by everyone and nobody went hungry, when Lois was in the kitchen.
She was preceded in passing by her husband, Ronald of 54 years. She was beloved by her children, Ronald Jr. Harrell and wife, Pam, Nicky Harrell and wife, Lori, Melanie Walters and husband, David and Tiffany M. Harrell. She was the proud grandmother and great-grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was happiest and the most fulfilled during family gatherings, especially at Christmas! We sometimes teased her about it, but, without a doubt, she was Elvis’ #1 fan. She always rooted for NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon - sometimes, telling him what he was doing wrong.
Now that she's no longer here. Her presence will be missed with each passing day. Lois had a longstanding relationship with Jesus and now she's with him and at rest. Those who mourn her, find solace in that knowledge.
