Lon Hobbs Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 22, 2025.
LIBERTY, TEXAS - Lon Paul Hobbs, 83, of Liberty, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, in Humble, Texas. He was born on January 24, 1942, in Odessa, Texas, to the late Paul Malloy Hobbs and Willie Victoria Cathey.

Lon lived a life full of devotion-to his family, his faith, and the simple joys that brought him happiness. A long-time member of Liberty Church of Christ, Lon not only considered the congregation his spiritual community but truly embraced them as family.

For 43 years, Lon made his home in Old River Winfree and the Moss Hill area, where many memories were made, before moving to Liberty for the past decade. He worked diligently as a Chemical Lab Technician in various chemical plants, bringing the same care and precision to his profession that he did to every aspect of his life.

Lon found joy in life's natural wonders and pastimes-he had a passion for deer hunting, found peace in watching thunderstorms and lightning, and in his younger years, loved nothing more than boating and fishing. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, his son David Hobbs, and his brother-in-law F. R. Mitchell.

Lon leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia Hobbs; sons Vance Hobbs and wife Jill, and Robert Kuklies and wife Lisa; daughter Amanda Harrington and husband Stephen; brother Tom Hobbs and wife Claudia; sister Nancy Mitchell; grandchildren Mercedes McKeever and husband Matt, Kylee Carnevale and husband Chase, Chloe Hobbs, Mason Hobbs, and Cori Harrington; and great-grandchildren T.J. McKeever and Gracelynn McKeever. He is also fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Whitney Brady and husband Brian, Torey Worley and husband Mark, Ben Winford and wife Ava, Jennifer Tharp and husband James, and Lori Scott.

Lon will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, and the legacy of love he leaves behind in all who knew him.
