Wayne Hobbs Obituary

Wayne was born in Philadelphia on April 21, 1952, the son of the late James L. and Norma J. (Routzahn) Hobbs. He grew up in Aldan, Delaware County, where his love for sports began early. He played baseball for the Aldan Boys' Club and went on to excel in football, wrestling, and baseball at Lansdowne-Aldan High School.
He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in health and physical education from East Stroudsburg State Teaching College. Wayne dedicated his professional life to education and athletics, spending the majority of his career as a health and physical education teacher in the William Penn School District - including at his alma mater. He coached baseball, wrestling, and football, and served for many years as a respected PIAA basketball official and administrator.
A passionate athlete throughout his life, Wayne was an avid runner and triathlete, competing alongside close friends. He built his own log home in Pocono Farms with the help of his family, and upon retirement, made it his full-time residence. In retirement, Wayne remained physically active, enjoying biking, running, and weight training. He had a deep love for the outdoors and for animals, and most especially cherished time spent with his brother's children exploring family attractions throughout the Poconos and the Jersey Shore.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Laura Lee Arbolino and Leslie Ann Hobbs.
He is survived by his brother, Kevin Hobbs, and sister-in-law, Dawn Hobbs; nieces Laura Mailani Hobbs, Elizabeth Hobbs, and Karen Arbolino; nephews James Hobbs and Michael Arbolino all of Aldan, PA as well as extended family members.
A memorial service will be held in Delaware County during the month of October; details to be announced.

Wayne and I were roommates at East Stroudsburg State College for three years at 313 Minci Hall . That´s where we created a lifetime friendship and Wayne was even the best man at my wedding in 1974. I was able to meet Wayne at his house about a year ago where we had a nice time. Rest in peace brother.
