Precious Memories:
Sis. Lorene Brown Thompson
"And I said, oh that I had wings like a Dove; for then would I fly away, and be at rest." Psalm 55:6
The hour glass with its sands of time, has slowly but surely spilled its contents, and with the passing of the last sand, went the life of our friend and loved one.
Lorene Brown Thompson was born May 6, 1936; in Mapleville Alabama. To the union of the late Robert and Hattie Brown, she was born the third child of six children. She received her education in the public school system and graduated from Brighton High School in Bessemer, Alabama.
Lorene accepted Christ at an early age, and joined 1st Baptist Church of Roosevelt, in Roosevelt Alabama, where she served on the Usher Board.
Lorene was united in marriage with Robert Brown in 1954, to this union were born four precious children Andre Brown, Jeanette H McFadden, Christauna R. Broussard, and Lionel T Brown. In later years, Lorene married Leonard Thompson in 1982.
In 1962, she and her family moved to
Denver, Colorado where she joined Central Baptist Church. Lorene later moved her membership to Union Baptist Church, then rejoined Central Baptist Church in 1967. She served on the Senior Usher Board and the Deaconess Ministry until her health began to fail. She was a faithful and devoted member. She loved God first and foremost, as well as her church and church family, and it showed through her service.
In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, traveling, and shopping.
Lorene especially loved to travel, and one of her best journeys in life was when she traveled to Jerusalem where she got re-baptized in the Jordan River.
On January 11, 2026 at 7:30PM the spirit of Lorene Thompson took flight to a land where there is no sickness, pain or sorrow.
Lorene is survived by her four children Andre Brown, Jeanette H McFadden, Christauna R. Broussard and Lionel T. Brown; her siblings Dorothy Brown, Earnestine Butt and Theresa Madison; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Hattie Brown, her husband Leonard Thompson, and her siblings Robert Lee Brown and Annette Bardwell.
~Acknowledgments~
Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair.
Perhaps you sent a floral piece, if so we saw it there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, that any friend could say.
Perhaps you were not there at all; just thought of us that day.
Whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you so much, whatever the part.
The family of Lorene B. Thompson:

Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted"
Miss Me, But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room, why cry for a soul set free.
Miss me a little, but not too long, and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love we once shared.
Miss me a little, but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take and each must go alone.
It's all a part of God's master's plan.
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me but let me go.
