Loretta M. Cammon

Mrs. Loretta M. Cammon, age eighty-five, departed this life and entered into eternal rest early Friday morning, March 14, 2025 at her residence on Bowmantown Road in Person County. She was born September 3, 1939 in Pittsylvania County in Danville, Virginia to the late Norma Russell and Scott Bowman, made her home in Person County and was a member of Prospect Hill Baptist Church.
She was a graduate of Winston-Salem State University and taught for thirty-five years in the public schools system before her retirement.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters: Ida and Lily Russell.
She leaves to cherish precious memories, children: Richard Cammon (Carmen), Ivan Cammon and Terrence Cammon (Shawn), all of Roxboro, North Carolina; grandchildren: Sarah Cammon of Franklinton, North Carolina, Devante` Cammon, also of Roxboro, Jayden Fortner (Ethan) of Mebane, North Carolina, Nadia Cammon, Chaylen Daniel and Jeremy Blackwell, all of Roxboro; great-grandchildren: Darien Cammon of Washington, DC and Melanie Traynham, also of Franklinton; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 1:00pm at Prospect Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 301 Bethel Hill School Road, Roxboro, North Carolina 27574, with the Reverend Sylvester C. Clay, Pastor, officiating and providing the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A public viewing and visitation will be Friday at Cunningham & Associates Funeral Services from 1:00pm to 6:00pm with the family present during the last hour from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Her body will lie in state at the church from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, one hour prior to the service.
