Loretta N. Carson was born January 19, 1945 to Doretha Cecilia Vance and
Norris Emanuel Vance at General Hospital #2 in Kansas City,Missouri. She preceded in death by her parents, her eldest son, Vance; brother, Hershell Murphy III; grandsons, Gerard Vance and
Edward Murphy, Jr.
She attended R.T. Coles High School and later obtained her GED.
Loretta worked for Queen of the World Hospital until she was diagnosed
with Multiple Sclerosis. She lived a happy life for many years despite this
diagnosis and longer than the medical professionals anticipated or predicted.
Mother Carson loved the Lord and often recited the scriptures, which she had
committed to memory. She was a member of the Zion Grove Missionary Baptist
Church for many years and then transferred her membership to Love United
Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Clayborn Jones until
her passing.
Earlier in life she was a great bowler, holding many trophies, and also loved
playing softball. Loretta loved singing and listening to music of all genres.
Loretta Carson was known for her legendary smile!
Loretta departed this life on February 19, 2025 in her home surrounded by her
family.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Loretha Hayden (Tony) of Raytown, MO, Edward Murphy (Pina) of Harrisonville, MO, Tywanna Khalifah (Lutfi) of Independence, MO; three sisters, Rosie Hill
(David), Rita McArn and Rosalin Vance; four brothers Cornell Vance, Norris Vance, Tony Vance (Cynthia), Elbert Vance; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Shalom Missionary Baptist Church. Private Disposition. Visitation 10-11:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons. Condolences may be shared on our website.
