GAUTHIER, Loretta "Jean" – of Flint, MI, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at her residence. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Genesee County or Genesee County Animal Control, in Jean's memory.
Jean was born in Flint, MI on February 10, 1937, daughter of the late William Carl and Genevieve Gladine (Spiker) Kettler. Jean graduated from Beecher High School in 1955. That same year, on June 11, she married the love of her life, William "Kenneth" Gauthier, in Flint, Michigan. Together, they built a life in the Kearsley area, raising their family with love and devotion until Kenneth's passing in 2001. A dedicated homemaker, Jean had a deep love for animals and nature. She found joy in feeding birds, squirrels, and any creature that happened to wander to her door. Her passion for animals extended to her years of volunteer work at the Humane Society of Genesee County. Jean was also a car show enthusiast and loved the excitement and community of those events. Above all, Jean cherished time spent with her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and the memories they made together will be treasured forever.
Jean is survived by her children, William "Larry" (Kim) Gauthier and Kinda (Eric) Bean; grandchildren, Garrett (Angela) Gauthier, Hannah (Zack) Whatcott, Kayla (Bruce) Pilon, Jessica (Jonathan) Sabo and Ryan (Kennedy) Freeman; great-grandchildren, Declan and Ellie Pilon, Charlee Sabo and Myles Freeman; siblings, Ronald (Ann) Kettler and Michael (Sharon) Kettler; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shelly Farrer; and brother, William "Bill" Kettler.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to cousin, Gail Gauthier, nurse Connie of Mid-Michigan Home Health and Hospice and special friend, Diane Jarvinen for their loving care and support.
