Loretta Lee Hannum

Ms. Loretta L. "Reddy" Hannum, age 68, of Lewis, Delaware and formerly of Unionville and Wagontown, Pennsylvania, passed away quietly on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at the Accentcare Hospice Inpatient Suites of Wilmington Hospital, Wilmington, Delaware.
Born in Chester County, Pennsylvania and raised in Wagontown, PA, a daughter of Louise Cotter and Donald Hannum, she graduated from Coatesville Area High School, Class of 1974.
Prior to retirement, Reddy was a successful farm manager at thoroughbred breeding and racing facilities, having worked in horse breeding programs in Chester and Delaware counties of Pennsylvania, and Wyoming. She had worked in the various positions of breeding manager, riding instructor, and foaling manager. Reddy was formerly associated with My Way Farm, Unionville, PA and Bent Pine Farm, Wagontown, PA.
Reddy lived a fascinating life with a varied career and valued her independence. She traveled extensively to Europe and Egypt, as well as many places in the western United States. Reddy loved animals, especially horses and dogs, both of which were her companions throughout her life and travels. She was a devoted caregiver to many generations of thoroughbreds and followed their careers enthusiastically. Her expertise in raising foals and treating sick horses was admired in her field.
In her retired life, Reddy was an avid reader and enjoyed reading a book by the beautiful Delaware beaches. She loved music and had an extensive music collection. Reddy also used her knowledge of horse training to visit the racetrack with friends to enjoy a day of racing.
Reddy was fortunate to have a host of caring friends who will miss her smile, sarcasm, and amazing stories. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Hannum. Reddy is survived by her mother, Louise Hannum; her sister, Barbara, wife to William Taggart; her niece, Jennifer, wife of Scott Shoemaker; her nephew, Michael Taggart, husband to Terianne Taggart; her great nieces and nephew.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Williams Funeral Home and Burial Services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to honor Reddy's life to or to your local animal rescue of your choice.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Private burial will be Northwood Cemetery, Downington, Pennsylvania.
