Loretta Quinn Obituary

Loretta Catherine Coyne Quinn was born at home in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on July 28, 1928.

She died peacefully at home in Westbury, Long Island on August 10, 2025 after a short illness,

with her daughter Lori holding her hands. She was 97 years old. Loretta was the second of five

children born to Margaret Studdert Coyne and Patrick Coyne, both immigrants from Ireland.

Loretta met the love of her life, William (Bill) Joseph Quinn, on Rockaway Beach and they were

married on April 28, 1951 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Greenpoint. Together they raised

four sons and a daughter, moving to Westbury in the late 1950's. They had a rich life, full of

faith, family and friends. They enjoyed a home in Boca Raton, Florida and after Bill's death, she

continued to enjoy an active lifestyle between Vero Beach, Florida and Westbury. She traveled

the world and made many new friends. Loretta remained close to her Irish roots and visited the

country numerous times. She also hosted many young Irish relatives who came to America.

Having lived through the Great Depression and World War II, these events shaped her

resilience and strength. While her children were young, Loretta was a homemaker and returned

to the workforce as an Executive Secretary in banking in the mid 1970's. Loretta was known for

her sharp mind and quick wit. A treasured family memory is the trip she sponsored with all of her

children and grandchildren to Bermuda in 1994.

At 97 she was the family matriarch, and the last of her generation. She was preceded in death

by her parents and siblings (Margaret Killeen, Della Hickey, Patrick Coyne, and Mary Coyne),

her beloved husband William Quinn, and cherished sons Kevin (2023) and Dennis (2009.) She

is survived by her sons William (wife Winnie, children Caroline, Rory, and Ryan) and Terrence

(wife Eleanour, children Moira and Seamus); daughter Lori Moylan (husband Dan, children

Daniel, Liam, and Bridget); daughters-in-law Susan (daughters Patricia and Erica) and Jean

Marie Costello (children Brendan and Erin); and by the spouses and partners of her

grandchildren, who she loved dearly, and 11 great grandchildren, Quora and Ludo (Rory and

Kristin), Carmen and Margo (Caroline), Benjamin, Alexandra, and Claire (Patricia and Joe),

Patrick, Nora, Henry, and James (Erica and Kevin) with another on the way (Ryan and Nichole).

She is also loved and remembered by dozens of nieces, nephews, and grand and great-grand

nieces and nephews. She left a remarkable legacy
