Lori Karen Deasy of Cary, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2024. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in Plymouth, Michigan. Lori was baptized into Christ on March 28, 1965, and confirmed her faith on May 20, 1979
A 1983 graduate of Lutheran High Northwest, Lori was a cheerleader who brought joy and energy to her school community. She continued her education at Valparaiso University, graduating in 1987 with a degree in fashion merchandising. While at Valpo, Lori was a proud member of Chi Sigma Xi sorority.
After college, Lori moved to Chicago, where she began her career, working for companies like Montgomery Ward and United Charities. In time, she settled in Cary with her family and became deeply involved in her church, Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Lori’s faith was central to her life. She served as a Vacation Bible School leader, Sunday School teacher, and preschool teacher for over a decade. She had a heart for children and found great joy in nurturing their faith and creativity.
Lori spent many summers in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, a place she loved dearly. She was incredibly creative, with a passion for painting and drawing. But her greatest love was being a mom to Allison and Sarah, whom she considered her life’s pride and joy. Lori was a loving friend, dedicated daughter, sister, and mother who cherished time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her parents, Robert and Karen Mai; her sister, Lisa Claussen, and brother-in-law, Stephen Claussen; and her beloved daughters, Allison and Sarah Deasy.
A visitation will be held on January 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Cary, followed by a service at 12:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made in Lori’s honor to Holy Cross Preschool.
