Lori (Kitchen) Froedge, 51 years young of Mooresville, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, April 26, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 11, 1973, in Martinsville to the late Milton L. and Marilyn R. (Byrum) Kitchen.
Raised in the small town of Mooresville, Lori proudly graduated from Mooresville High School with the class of 1992. She then furthered her studies with the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Early Childhood Development with a minor in Criminal Justice. With a passion for caring for others, she switched gears and became a Certified Nursing Assistant dedicating several years of hard work at Miller's Merry Manor before being forced to retire due to several health issues. In addition, she was a member of Mt. Gilead Church of Christ.
A truly loving and devoted mother to her kids, Matt and Erica, Lori continuously had their backs. Caring, yet stern when she needed to be, she ultimately raised them with the values that were instilled in her and was most proud of the adults they became. As a single mother and money was tight, the trio occasionally visited family in Kentucky, and later were afforded the opportunity to head south to the sandy beaches of Florida to soak up the sun.
Blessed with the gift of an outgoing and bubbly personality, Lori thoroughly enjoyed the company of friends and family. She found solace in feeding all her people, crocheting, watching her favorite tv shows that centered around the medical field and actual drama series, such as House and Swat. She was addicted to Monopoly Go, adored Eeyore, and the family had many a game night playing board games.
With a well-rounded sense of humor, Lori had a smile and a laugh that would light up a room. She was known to give the shirt off her back to anyone in need, could be stubborn at times, and was often found getting her groove on, listening to music. A strong warrior to the end, she never let the pain stop her from having a good time, surrounded by those she loved the most. Although she left all too soon and her happy, bright light has faded from this world, the memories she left will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael M. Froedge.
She leaves behind her children, Matt Kitchen of Mooresville, and Erica Froedge (John) of Mooresville; adopted daughter Maddy Payne of Mooresville; significant other, Randy Shelley of Bowling Green, IN; siblings, Lynn Chandler (Jim) of Englewood, FL, Steve Kitchen (Michelle) of Sardina, OH, Tyler Harless (Annette Brown) of Sevierville, TN, Todd "Brad" Harless of Duffield, VA, Brenda Franklin (Mike) of Mooresville, and Diane Holt of Indianapolis; best friends/sisters, Kimberly "Kimmie" Hughes Holtzclaw and Angie Gist; one grandbaby on the way, along with several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to Celebrate Lori's Life from 11am to 1pm, on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia, with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 1pm. Pastor Jim Chandler will officiate services and burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
