Lori Marie Lemoine of Granby, CT, was born to the late Neil P. and Lynda (Lanier) Cain on August 16, 1967, in North Adams, MA. A parishioner of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, Lori sang in the choir throughout her youth. Music and singing were always integral parts of Lori's life, and those who knew her would never be surprised to hear her suddenly break into song at any given moment. Upon graduating from Drury High School in 1985, Lori attended Westfield State College, where she made many lifelong friendships. Upon receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Lori worked in Special Education at the Glickman School in Springfield until she moved to Huntington Beach, California, where she worked as a Special Education Resource Specialist. While living in California, Lori also received her Master's degree at California State University at Fullerton. In 1996, Lori returned to Connecticut, teaching special education and second grade in Windsor until 2006, when she started teaching in Wethersfield, where she remained for 13 years until her retirement in 2018.
A firm believer in the benefits of positive energy, the power of healthy living (although never at the cost of enjoying a sinfully delicious meal and an ice-cold beer when the moment arose), and the importance of quiet, reflective moments, Lori was ever the voice of reason for her friends and family. She enjoyed spending time with loved ones at Seabrook Beach in New Hampshire, reading, yoga, kayaking, singing, music-especially live concerts and musicals-and expressing herself creatively via journaling, doodling, and other artful endeavors. Lori was also one of those rare people that could truly live in the now; her ability to stop and savor a joyful moment-no matter how inconsequential-was a hallmark of who she was and how she lived her life.
Lori is survived by her partner of 11 years and husband of six years, Jim Cyr of Granby, her four children, Dalton and Grace Lemoine, from her first husband, Lawrence Lemoine, and Eric and Zackary Cyr; her sister, Erin (Cain) Morgan and her husband, Chris, and her nephew, Connor, of McKeesport, PA. Lori is also survived by an extended loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws, as well as many "like-family" friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM at First Church of Christ, 689 Hopmeadow St, Simsbury, CT 06070. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lori's memory may be made to Healing Meals Community Project, PO Box 7223, Bloomfield, CT 06002. For condolences, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.

I had to come to the realization that I won´t be seeing your beautiful smile nor hear your lovely singing or share your garden surplus, and those Things I know I am always going to miss you. Thanks for sharing part of your life and family with me. I promise to keep them always in my prayers. I will be there to support and love them because that´s what Bema does.

Lori was my team partner at Poquonock school in Windsor for a few years. She was always helpful as a colleague, highly organized as a teacher, and always had a listening ear for each and every student. She was extremely creative in her classroom and had loads of patience and love for all of her students. It is an honor to have called her a call Lake. I am sorry she has been taken at such a young age and I hope that her husband and children Know how much of a difference she made in the lives of those that she encountered. Bless you!

I was a 4th-grade student in 2017 with Mrs. Lemoine as my teacher - I was in the last class she taught at Hanmer. I'm now going into 10th grade, and to this day she remains my favorite teacher I've ever had. She was spontaneous and emotional and always her real, genuine self. I remember one of her example essays to the class was about living life in the moment - something I've taken with me to this day. I'll always remember that when she read Because of Winn-Dixie out loud to the class, she cried at the part where India's dad gave up looking for Winn-Dixie. We had lists of homophones and homonyms hanging around the classroom because she got inspired by the book Rain, Reign. We kept in touch through email for a few years, and the last time I saw her was when she came to my 6th grade step-up ceremony in 2019. I was just thinking about emailing her the other day. I'm sending my condolences to her family and everyone she was close to. I didn't know her well, but I loved her so much.

Our hearts break for all of you. Both of our kids had Lori at Hanmer. They are two very different kids and learners, but both adored Ms. Lemoine and so did we! She put so much effort and time into catching one of our kids up in Math when she discovered the learning gap and we are forever grateful for that! She was a kind, caring and funny soul! Our kids still talk about her fondly and they are both in high school now. We are so thankful that our kids experienced her gifts!

Erin & Family,
Sadly Lori's life journey is now over however she's been promoted to Angel first class. Carrying on without her seems like an impossible task, time won't heal the hole you're left with, it just makes it bit more manageable. May God carry you at this most difficult time.
I met Lori the last day of first grade while walking home from East School. She was a butterfly in Miss Cain's play and she gave me her wings. As we grew I remember our biggest decision was what to wear to the school dance and how to wear our hair. Although our lives have changed and we lost touch I've never forgotten the fun times we had and life's lessons we've learned along the way. It made me laugh when I read in her obit, "bursting into song at any given moment". All these years later, who knew that's where I picked it up from as I do the same thing. She left the world a better place. Be proud she was your big sister, wife and mom as I am that she chose me to be her friend.

Our Children's lives were made better by Mrs. Lemoine´s dedication. She made things fun and cared about her students and we are great full for her life! Not to mention the time she lead the teachers dance for the Hanmer talent show! Rest In Peace peace and grace to the family left behind, you will remain in our prayers.

My sincere condolences to Lori's family and husband, Jim. While I never met Lori, she was clearly a kind, caring spirit and family advocate.
