In Loving Memory of Nancy Jean Thompson
Nancy Jean Thompson, 61, of East Hartland, CT, left this world unexpectedly on Friday, November 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. Born in Hartford, CT, Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late Donald H. and Zana (Hudon) Tauro.
Raised in the charming town of Canton, Nancy graduated from Canton High School in 1981. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Jeff Thompson. The two were united in marriage in 1984, and together they built a beautiful family, starting in Winsted, CT, where they welcomed their two wonderful children, Jeffrey Michael and Rebecca Nancy. In 1999, they moved to East Hartland, where their family continued to flourish.
As a devoted stay-at-home mom, Nancy poured her heart into nurturing her family, creating a warm and loving home filled with laughter and joy. When her children entered school, she took on the role of a cafeteria worker at The Gilbert School in Winsted from 1998 to 2013, where her infectious spirit and childlike heart brought smiles to the faces of many students.
Nancy had a passion for life that was evident in everything she did. Whether she was tending to her garden, lounging by the pool, entertaining friends, or cooking up delicious meals, she made every moment count. Most importantly, Nancy adored her family, especially her grandson, Mack, with whom she shared countless precious memories in her later years.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Jeffrey E. Thompson; her son Jeffrey M. and his wife Marijo (Ficca) Thompson; her daughter Rebecca Thompson; and her cherished grandson Mack, all of whom reside in Connecticut. She is also survived by her siblings: Susan and David Kraig, Donna Tauro and Kim Otis, Stephen and Siobhan Tauro, Mary and Larry Stockman, and Eileen Rice, as well as her father-in-law James E. Thompson, brother-in-law James E. Thompson, sister-in-law Jody E. and her husband James Farell, brother-in-law Job and Kim Thompson, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Nancy was predeceased by her loving parents, Donald H. and Zana Tauro, and her mother-in-law, Rosemarie Thompson.
In honor of Nancy's life, the family invites friends to join them for visitation on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, located at 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, CT 06035.
Nancy Thompson will be remembered for her boundless love and the light she brought into the lives of those she touched. May her spirit continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
