Obituary for Loriann Marie Cheeseman (Sofield)
Loriann, better known as Lori, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, loving daughter, and treasured friend, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025. She was born on March 29, 1961, in Sterling, New Jersey, and from the very beginning brought warmth, humor, and a generous spirit into the world.
She is survived by her daughter, Brittenie Patrick of Delmar, MD, and Brittenie's three children-Haley, Makayla, and Madden-who were among the greatest joys of her life. She is also survived by her son, Cliff Higby of Fort Ann, NY, and his children-Jonah, August, and Kezia-whom she adored deeply. In addition, Lori leaves behind her sister, Karen Jones of Delaware, her brother Roy Sofield of Tennessee, her brother Tom Sofield of Florida, her sister Donna Tiller of New York, and her brother David Sofield of Georgia, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Sofield Jr. and Lois A. Sofield, her brother Bob Jones, and her husband Harry F. Cheeseman, each of whom she held close in memory and heart.
A woman of strength, love, and quiet resilience, she embraced her family with unwavering devotion. She found comfort in simple pleasures, meaningful conversations, and the companionship of her beloved cat, Garfield, who now carries forward the gentle presence she offered so freely.
Her legacy lives on in the generations who follow her, in the lessons she taught, and in the love she gave without reservation. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
