Lorie Kim Cales Northcutt, 59, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away at her home on September 22, 2025. She was born in Anniston, Alabama, in 1965 to Reginald and JinJa Cales. As a retired librarian at the JC Holiday Library in Sampson County, NC, Lorie was an avid reader who shared her love for reading with patrons of all ages for many years. Her greatest achievement in life was being a mother and grandmother to her two children and grandchildren, Maisie and Madelyn. She was extremely proud of her Korean heritage, sharing her knowledge and love for Korean food, culture, and history with her friends and family. In recent years, Lorie took pride in honing her skills as an artist. Lorie was known for her unconditional love and kindness, witty humor, and infectious laugh. She will be missed deeply. Lorie is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years Thomas Northcutt of Lexington, Kentucky; her daughter, Caitlin Northcutt of Lexington, Kentucky; her son Cody Northcutt (Rachel) of Springfield, Kentucky, her sister Bridgett Karlson (Dave) of Cincinnati, Ohio; her brother Eric Cales of Cincinnati, Ohio; her loving mother, JinJa Cales of Cincinnati, Ohio; her beloved grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Albert Cales, and father, Reginald Cales. Public visitation will be held at Kerr Brothers at 463 East Main St., Lexington, Kentucky, on Saturday, September 27th, from 12:00-2:00 pm, directly followed by a celebration of life.
