Lorraine Jean Hilde, 95, of Lisbon, North Dakota passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Parkside Lutheran Home.
Lorraine was born on December 21, 1928 in rural Fort Ransom, ND to Tilden and Nora (Sorby) Anderson. She attended Preston Township grade school and graduated from Fort Ransom High School. On August 21, 1949 she married Lowell M. Johnson. They had two sons, Joe and Jerry. They lived in several places throughout North Dakota before moving to Fort Ransom, ND in 1959 where they operated a grocery and general store until 1964. In 1964, they moved into a new building in Fort Ransom and operated a variety store and a U.S. Post Office where Lorraine worked as a clerk for 8 years and a Postmaster for 22 years. She was a member of Standing Rock Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. She was also a member of WELCA at Standing Rock Lutheran Church as well as a lifetime member of the Sheyenne Valley Arts & Crafts Association.
After the passing of her first husband Lowell in 1968, Lorraine was remarried to Ordell A. Hilde on October 19, 1973, where they lived in rural Fort Ransom.
Lorraine is survived by her son Joe Johnson of Fort Ransom, ND; brother Virgil (Betty) Anderson of Fort Ransom, ND; grandson Mike Johnson of Fort Ransom, ND; granddaughter Jessie (Dean) Sabot of Bismarck, ND; granddaughter Cindy (Gerald) Urlaub of West Fargo, ND; grandson Greg (Lisa) Johnson of Bismarck, ND as well as seven great grandchildren: Madison (Noah) Schaeffer, Alex Urlaub, Hunter Sabot, Kaylee Johnson, Walker Sabot, Brycen Johnson, and Claire Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lowell Johnson, husband Ordell Hilde, parents Tilden and Nora Anderson, son Jerry Johnson, sister LaVerne (Anderson) Olson, and daughter-in-law Vickie Johnson.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Standing Rock Lutheran Church in Fort Ransom, ND with visitation 1 hour prior to the funeral service. The burial committal service will be held at a later date. Memories may be shared and viewed here.
