Lorraine worked for Sears, Smoller Brothers and at the Bank of Herrin.
Lorraine was born on May 2, 1934 in Herrin, IL to Charles & Lucille (Bowman) Hammontree.
She was united in marriage to Ferman Samples, Jr. in 1953. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1998.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph & Lana Samples of Sedalia, KY and Charles & Ralyn Samples of Benton, IL; Grandchildren, Donald & Mindy Samples of Herrin, IL, Lisa & Doug Hall of Herrin, Michelle Samples of Herrin, IL, Mitchell and Taylor Bandy of DeSoto, IL, Kye and McKenzie Wade of Sedalia, KY; Great-Grandchildren, Austin Samples, Macey Samples, Cole Samples, Dawson Hall, Ellis Wade and Foster Wade; one Great-Great Grandchild, Grayson Samples; and two sisters, Annette Holland of Cambria, IL and Shirley Watson of Johnston City, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Lucille Hammontree; husband, Ferman "Larry" Samples, Jr.; Son, Larry Joe Samples, Sister, Fredia Pickles; and brother-in-law, Bud Watson.
Graveside services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Herrin City Cemetery with Rev. Don Colson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the family.
