Lottie A. Nations, age 87, a lifelong resident of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025. Born on February 9, 1938, in Canton, Lottie devoted many years of service to Cherokee High School and other local schools, where she was a beloved figure in the lunchrooms.
Lottie was a member of Chalcedonia Baptist Church. Her vibrant spirit shone brightly through her hobbies. She was passionate about her vegetable garden, finding joy in the simplicity of tending to her plants and canning the vegetables she had grown. An excellent cook, she believed in the power of a shared meal, and her kitchen was a place of warmth and generosity.
Adventurous at heart, Lottie enjoyed traveling, metal detecting, and trout fishing with her beloved husband Donald. She spent countless hours in her yard creating a place of peace and beauty while embracing the outdoors she deeply loved. Her nurturing soul made her a caregiver at heart, always putting the needs of her family before her own.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Donald R. Nations; parents, Homer and Etta Lou Andrews; sisters, Willie B. McFarland, Anne Maude Aycock, Frances Bishop and Ruth Davis; brothers, Hurley Andrews and Gerald Andrews.
Lottie is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Quinn (John); sister, Martha Weaver; brother-in-law, Terry Nations (Tari); as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Larry Waddell and Rev. Mark Henson officiating. Interment will follow in Chalcedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 16th from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Quinn, Terry Nations, Charlie Andrews, Ricky Davis, Joe McPherson and Chad McPherson.
