Lou Thurston Beasley ObituaryLou Thurston Beasley, of Maple Plain, Minnesota went home to be with Jesus just before 7 pm on Friday, November 7th. He died peacefully at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, surrounded by an adoring family.
Lou was born December 8, 1935, in Central City, Kentucky to Willie and Charity Mary (Vincent) Beasley. He was the 4th of 8 children. Like all his brothers, he entered the service and was a proud member of the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War, primarily in Japan but also in several state-side locations, including two in Minnesota. In the 60s he became a telephone lineman in Hennepin County, and went on to install in-ground swimming pools, sell real estate, serve as a builder/contractor, before eventually opening art galleries and framing shops in both Wayzata, MN and Naples, FL. He loved working with his hands and was a handy-man extraordinaire who could build or fix just about anything. He built several homes for Jeannine and spent countless hours helping his children and grandchildren as well.
He met the love of his life, Jeannine June Gilbert, while stationed near Pipestone, MN. He was instantly smitten, and according to Lou, he saw her every night but one over several weeks. After a courtship that lasted 3 weeks, they were married by a Justice of the Peace on June 19, 1957. Upon learning of the elopement, Jeannine's mom insisted on a church wedding as well. Both "weddings" occurred in Pipestone, MN. While their courtship was short, their marriage lasted 64 years until Jeannine's death in 2021.
Lou is survived by his sister Joyce (Fred) Dyer, brother George (Lureen - who also happens to be Jeannine's sister); his sons John (Darsi), Daniel (Joy) and Michael as well as his daughter Wanda (Dan) Roach. He has 9 grandchildren (Alea, Amber, Annie, Maria, Autumn, Will, Alexis, John and Jennie) and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Carl, Bill, Anna Sue, Charlie and Delores Jane (aka Barbara).
Lou was a much beloved son, brother (although his siblings called him "Lou T"), uncle, husband, father (and father-in-law) and grandfather. He was an incredibly kind, gentle and happy person who loved (and was loved by) both his immediate and extended family. He could regularly be found at his grandchildren's and even great grandchildren's sporting events and activities, and he was always excited to see his family. He also loved golf, baseball, basketball, skiing and fishing, and had a decades long love-hate relationship with the squirrels who raided his birdfeeders!
Heaven is rejoicing with his arrival while those of us he left behind will miss him greatly - though we are comforted by the fact his best life is just beginning. Thank you, Jesus!
