Fairview, NC – Louis Frank Lento, 86, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at home with family.
Mr. Lento was a native of East Orange, NJ, and resided in South Florida prior to entering the US Navy. After his military service he returned to South Florida for much of his early life. He later traveled and lived in various places in the western part of the United States including Nevada and California until moving to Asheville, NC in 2018.
He was a son of the late Salvatore Michael Lento and Mary Falcone Lento and was also preceded in death by his son, Robert Lento and brother, Robert Anthony Lento.
Mr. Lento was a Korean War Veteran serving in the US Navy Seabees. During his professional career he was a Welder and a member of the Pipe Fitters Union. He loved fishing, boating, diving and hunting. He embraced so many experiences throughout his lifetime which often were followed in conversation by his words, "I've been there man." Wherever he traveled he could always be found with his closest companion "Leia", his dog.
Surviving are his daughters, Donna Melcher of Kealakekua, Hawaii, Laura Ryan (Kevin) of Loxahatchee, FL and Mary Lento of Lake Park, FL; grandchildren, Shawn Lynch, Robert Lento Jr. and Rachel Lento, Christopher Ryan (Lacey), Nickolas Ryan (Breana), Connor Ryan, Gabriel Ryan; sister-in-law, Frances Lento of Weddington, NC; nieces, Michelle Hennings (Fred) and Lori Pinkerton (Daren); and nephew, Michael Lento (Nichole).
Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516
