Louis C. Messler November 16, 1921 – October 5, 2024
Died peacefully at 102.9 years of age, on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at his home in Milwaukee, WI. He will be remembered and loved by his children Diane (Douglas) Beck, Donna (Michael) Patrick, Louis "Butch" Messler, Richard Messler (Beth Bouchoux) his grandchildren David (Jenn) Beck, Dean Beck, Dawn (Jim) Cibak, Shannon (Erik) May, John (Olivia) Patrick, Melanie (Matt) Wallace, Melissa Girsch, Brett Messler, Trever Messler and his 10 great-grandchildren.
His wife of 72 years Paula (nee Wondra), his daughter Denise (Greg) Girsch, sisters Anna & Katherine, brother Anton have proceeded him in death.
He is survived by his brother John Messler and brother-in-law Andrew (Jean) Wondra.
In WWII, from August 1942 till December 1945, he served in the Army as a 4th grade radio technician in the South Pacific. He was a member of the company C583rd Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion.
After his military service and marriage to Paula on June 12, 1948, he spent his career as a machinist, first with Continental Can Company and ending with Crown Cork & Seal. During this time and especially after retirement, his love for woodworking and ability to fix anything enabled him to make Paula's remodeling visions come true.
He was the ultimate husband, beloved father, much loved Uncle Louie and THE VERY BEST Grandpa, Opa, Papa Louie.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at OUR LADY OF LOURDES CATHOLIC CHURCH 3722 S. 58th St., Milwaukee, WI from 10:00 AM until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will be Monday, October 28th at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis TN 38105/ donors@stjude.org would be preferred.
